Timber Point Trail & Timber Island
By tsadmin
Great place to see the sunrise! If you want to get onto Timber Island you will need to time your visit at low tide as this is the only time to access the island. This is an easy 1.4 mile walk that takes you by salt marshes, cattail marshes, mixed forest, mudflats, shrublands, and rocky shores. There are benches along the trail to rest. Only 6 parking spaces, be careful parking in the dirt section, as high comes into this lot. This is a part of the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. Open from sunrise to sunset, no cost. Might want to bring bug repellent.
